REMOVING RED EYE FROM PHOTOS
by Adrienne Lubbe

If red eye has not been removed before printing, it can be done
afterwards using a red eye pen.

Try to get a pen with a fine nib because that allows one to colour
in more accurately. Do not colour over the high-light spots in the
eye.
They will turn green!

Do not be in a hurry when colouring in the eye. You cannot change
the colour in one step. It is best to do a layer and to leave it to
dry for a minute.
Once dry, go back to it and do another layer of colour. Repeat
patiently
until you have the colour required.

If you try to do change the colour in one go, you can easily
make a hole in the emulsion layer of the photograph and the photo
will then be ruined.

Colour in until you are satisfied with the colour. Leaving a little
red
shining through creates a more natural look.
Compare the first photo to the last one - what an improvement!
