Taking night portraits by Adrienne Lubbe - Use the setting on the camera showing a person with star. - This is used for shooting people outside at twilight or at night. - The person/subject in foreground is lit by the flash, after which the camera (mounted on a tripod) makes a long exposure to capture the night time lights. - It is important for the person to stand still during the night time exposure
or some of the lights may shine "through" the body like
a double exposure. The above photo was taken using the night portrait setting i.e. LONG EXPOSURE AND FLASH Notice the glow in the candles and the glassware, as well as the clarity of the food.
The above photo was taken using a FLASH. Notice that there is no glow from the candles and the food lacks intensity in colour.
This photo was taken using a LONG EXPOSURE with NO FLASH. Notice that there is a glow from the candles but the food cannot be seen. |
