TAKING PHOTOS WITH A MACRO LENS
by Adrienne Lubbe

A macro lens or facility on your camera allows the photographer
to get very close to the subject, which in turn allows an extremely
close-
up and detailed shot. |

Many scrapbookers make the mistake of thinking that they can
take a close up shot by getting too close to the subject, without
the correct facilities on the camera, and then are disappointed
because the results are blurry. If you do not have a macro
facility, rather stand further away and zoom in to the subject.

You need to check the manual of your camera to see if it has a
macro setting.

If you own a SLR camera you can purchase a separate macro lens
which will allow you to do great close up work.

A problem with close up work is the depth of field. That means
that a very small area of the subject will be in focus and the
remainder will be blurry or out of focus. This can be used with great
effect. |

To avoid camera shake, it is advisable that you use a tripod and
even a cable release. |

It is also vital to make sure that the subject remains still, so
avoid windy days, or take your subject inside. |
