by Karen Adams
Karen found some 6" x 6" mini albums from All My Memories and
decided to turn them into a 12" x 12' page. What a good way to use up your
stash, together with the co-ordinating stickers. She added in some silk and
paper flowers for a bit of texture.

MAKE THIS YEAR AN
ORGANISED ONE!
by
Adrienne Lubbe
1. Photos on the
computer:
I have a file
name ‘New Photos / To be printed.’ I divide my photos into files
according to occasions such as holidays, birthdays, Christmas etc.
You can even split each occasion up further into individual files.
I add a date to the files name.
NB. Then I save it onto a disc as a backup.
Label the disc and write on it whether it has been printed
or not. Once I have printed photos, I move the file from the ‘To
be printed’ to the ‘Printed” (because once I went and reprinted a
whole lot twice!) What a waste!
2. Photos:
In storage boxes much the same as a shoe box. Every time you have
photos printed sort
them in groups for
pages, insert a
dividing card (made from your scraps) which basically titles the
page. You could even add an idea to the card, page number or
sketch that you think might work. You can count and make a note of
how many horizontal and vertical photos are in the set. I write in
pencil so that I can erase and use the card divider again. This
saves you so much time in the long run, as you don’t have to keep
on flicking through the same photos again and again to find what
you want.
2. Extra photos
that didn’t make the cut:
I have a box
where I discard any
photos that didn’t fit the page layout. I sometimes need an odd
photo for a once-off project and that is where I scratch. I don’t
break up other sets of sorted photos.
4. Paper and
sticker letters: Sort
according to colours. You can mix plain and patterned papers. This
makes it so much easier to find. For this you need a container
with divided sections.
5. Scraps:
When you pack your scraps up, use a see-through flip file, and
pack away in colour order.
When you need a scrap piece for something, voila! It’s really
easy to find.
5.
Embellishments:
Sort according to
themes. I keep all tags together, all metal stuff together, all
brads sorted into colours, all flowers sorted into colours etc.
Label the containers. I
like to look through my stash quite often so that I can remember
what I have got.
6. Completed
pages: File them away into the correct album straight away. If I make an
odd page, it must have a home in an album – even if there is only
one page in the album. This protects it from damage and makes it
easier to find in the long run.
7. Incomplete
projects:
Place them in
plastic sleeves in a box and be disciplined. Work from the top to
the bottom and complete them
so that you can move onto new stuff. Catch up classes are always
good for this type of finishing off and boy do you feel good once
they are complete!
8.
Completing Journaling: This New Year try not to go onto the
next page before you have completed the last one -
journaling and all. This
is one of the biggest stumbling blocks to getting through your
pages. Just sit down and write it out. It doesn’t have to be
perfect. It is more important that it appears on the page.
