Easy Light metering
By Adrienne Lubbe
Your camera
will automatically meter the light for the main subject of the photo.
In this
instance there was strong light coming through the doorway of the tent.

In the above
case, the photo was composed with the doorway as the
focal point.
The camera set the meter automatically on that bright lighting situation,
which threw
the rest of the photo into darkness.

By focusing
inside the tent first and keeping the shutter button half way depressed,
then
recomposing the photo, the camera set the meter to read the darker
interior
setting
thereby creating a better exposed shot.
