#3. CHRISTMAS CONES
Made by
Adrienne Lubbe
Make and use these Christmas cones
as Christmas tree decorations, gifts for your guests and/or use them
instead of place setting cards by adding a name to each one.
 |
1. Use a
large dinner plate and draw a circle onto a
12 x 12"
piece of cardstock or patterned paper
 |
| 2. Cut out
the circle with a scallop pair of scissors. If scissors are not
available, just cut straight.
 |
3. Divide
the circle into quarters, cut and erase any pencil lines.
 |
| 4. Roll the
paper to form a cone shape. Adhere adhesive to one straight side and
stick cone together.
   |
5. Making
beaded embellishment: To thread thicker yarn through a small bead,
fold tiger wire (or any thin wire) in half and thread through bead
to use as a needle threader. Pull thicker thread through wire loop
and then through beads. Tie a double knot at the bottom end of the
beads.
   |
| 6. Now
using a thick needle, insert beaded yarn into tip of the cone, pull
through with sharp-nosed pliers and adhere yarn to the inside
of the cone with double sided tape.
  |
7. Using
about 30cm of organza ribbon, thread it from the outside of the cone
through the centre and out the other side. Tie knots on the outside
to form a handle. Trim the ribbon.
  |
|
8. To
embellish the cones use:
-
stickers
- 3d
Christmas decorations such as holly
- die
cut tags
-
ribbons
- print
out names on the computer
- use
red Dymo for names or sayings
- fill
with wood wool, batting or tinsel
- fill
with small gifts or chocolates
- use in
place of Christmas crackers

2cm wide ribbon, 6 glass crystal beads, 2 small round beads, ruler,
pen and lighter. |

large bead. |

on the ribbon. |

6. Come out at second marking, thread
on a bead and continue making large tacking stitches alternating
with beads until the end of the ribbon. |
|

7. Pull it up tight. |

8. Stitch small bead onto the top
with a double stitch to hold it securely. |
|

9. Extend thread at the top by
about 10cm and tie a knot in it to create the hanger for the tree |
