HANDMADE CHRISTMAS GIFTS

IDEA ...

#4. SCRAPBOOKING DISPLAY HANGER

The perfect gift for a scrapper or your scrapbook room.

What you need:

A wire coat hanger

2 pegs

Ribbons, fabrics and fibres

Made by Glenda Cressy

with photos and descriptions by Adrienne Lubbe

Step by step:

1. Cut strips of fabric on the true bias (45° angle to the selvedge.) This angle prevents the fabric from fraying.

Make strips about 1.5cm wide.

2. Cut a whole lot of fabric strips about 15cm long and fibres and ribbons about 10cm long. (The broader the ribbon the longer it must be cut.)

3. Tie the ribbons, fabric strips and fibres onto the top diagonal wires of the the coat hanger in a single knot.

Alternate the colours and textures.

4. Once you have tied the entire length, tie a piece of fabric around the central hook of the hanger.

5. Attach a large flower to the centre  by opening a large brad and securing it around the wire of the coat hanger.

6. Add pegs to the horizontal wire and attach your page for display.

7. Make two identical hangers for a double page spread.

# 2. CD COVERS

Designed by Adrienne Lubbe

Everyone who is into digital photography needs a blank CD to back up their photos. What a great and inexpensive gift idea!

Step by step instructions:

1. Trace the outline of the CD cover onto left over cardstock and cut out.

2. Choose a colour ink that will be used throughout the project and chalk or ink all the edges.

3. Stamp or draw a design onto another left over piece of cardstock. Choose something with lines so that there is place to list what photos are being saved on the disc.

4. Go through your stash to select a variety of bits and pieces that could possibly be used on the project. This is a great way to use up extra and left over embellishments and off cuts of paper.

5. Arrange your materials on the cover and once you are satisfied with the design, adhere all bits and pieces to cardstock with double sided tape or glue dots.

6. Stick the entire cover to the CD cover with double sided tape.Completed example #1 - Theme general 'life' and family photos.
